Descripción del Tour

Discover one of the most extraordinary and authentic experiences in the Peruvian Andes through this exclusive high-altitude expedition around the majestic Ausangate—revered as an Apu, or sacred mountain spirit, and the highest peak in the Vilcanota mountain range.

This remarkable journey immerses you in a breathtaking natural environment where dramatic landscapes, ancient geological formations, towering glaciers, and a unique biodiversity converge. Along the way, you will encounter a rich variety of flora and fauna, as well as the ancestral way of life of high-Andean communities—renowned for their exceptional textile artistry and deeply rooted cultural traditions.

The route crosses high-altitude passes exceeding 5,100 meters (16,732 ft), making proper acclimatization in Cusco essential. Daily hiking times average 4 to 5 hours, thoughtfully designed to balance physical challenge with moments of reflection and connection.

One of the most memorable highlights of this expedition is the opportunity to relax in natural hot springs in Upis and Pacchanta. Immersing yourself in these thermal waters—reaching temperatures above 40°C (104°F)—while surrounded by the vast Andean landscape creates a truly unique sensory experience, especially in contrast with the crisp mountain air.

The full Ausangate circuit spans approximately 80 km and is considered one of Peru’s most captivating destinations for high-altitude trekking. Its turquoise glacial lakes, ice caves, vast open plains, and the warmth of its people make this journey deeply transformative.
