Tour Description
Embark on an exclusive journey that combines hiking, history, breathtaking Andean landscapes, and the incomparable magic of Machu Picchu. This carefully designed experience is ideal for travelers seeking a deeper connection with the ancient Inca world before arriving at Peruβs most iconic archaeological sanctuary.
The hike to Huchuy Qosqo, which means βLittle Cuscoβ in Quechua, offers an authentic and less-traveled alternative for those seeking a more intimate cultural experience. Along the route, you will encounter ancient Inca remains, ancestral trails, agricultural terraces, ceremonial gateways, and spectacular highland scenery that reveal the greatness of one of the world’s most extraordinary civilizations.
Strategically located above the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Huchuy Qosqo offers privileged panoramic views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range, its snow-capped peaks, and the valleys once considered sacred by the Incas.
The experience culminates with a visit to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, where architecture, nature, and ancestral energy merge to create one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.
A perfect journey for travelers seeking more than a conventional tourβan intimate, cultural, and unforgettable exploration through the heart of the Andes.
DAY 1: CUSCO β CORAO β HUCHUY QOSQO β SACRED VALLEY
At 7:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and travel by private transportation to the village of Corao, located approximately 25 minutes from the city.
From here, we begin our hike toward Huchuy Qosqo, following ancient Inca trails and passing through the area known as LeΓ³n Punku, where remnants of the original Inca road can still be seen. Along the route, we will cross high-altitude plateaus surrounded by native flora, stunning natural landscapes, and spectacular views of the Andean countryside.
After approximately four hours of hiking, we will arrive at the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo, situated at 3,600 m / 11,811 ft above sea level and overlooking the Sacred Valley.
Here, we will enjoy a well-deserved rest and a delicious box lunch while taking in the extraordinary scenery. Afterwards, your guide will lead a comprehensive tour of the site, where you will discover its agricultural terraces, storage buildings, ceremonial structures, and remarkable examples of Inca architecture.
You will then have free time to explore, photograph the site, and immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable place.
Finally, we will descend for approximately three hours to the village of Lamay, where our private transportation will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.
DAY 2: SACRED VALLEY β MACHU PICCHU β CUSCO
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley at approximately 6:45 a.m. and transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station.
Board your selected train service and enjoy a scenic journey through spectacular Andean landscapes, rivers, valleys, and mountains on the way to Aguas Calientes.
Upon arrival, we will take the shuttle bus to the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the most admired wonders of the world.
During a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, you will explore the most important sectors of the sanctuary while learning about its history, architecture, spirituality, and enduring mysteries.
You will also have time to admire the magnificent scenery and capture unforgettable photographs of this iconic destination.
Following the guided tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you may enjoy lunch at your leisure. Later, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco.
